Southern Californians establish libraries in China (7/14/2005) The San Fernando Valley Chinese Cultural Association has financed the creation of more than 60 libraries in towns and villages in China. They began their efforts in 1990 to bridge the literacy gap between the rich and poor. The group includes three Cal State Northridge faculty (mathematics professor Kwang-Nan Chow, librarian Angela Lew, and retired mathematics professor T. P. Lin) and businessman Fred Chau, who provided much of the funding. |
