Huntington Library and Gardens Under Construction (4/25/2005) Projects include renovations in the main gallery and construction of the Erburu Gallery, a greenhouse, and a 12-acre Chinese garden. Funding includes many generous donations, including $1 million from actor/director Steve Martin. Visitors previously oblivious to the research activities happening onsite can't help but notice the new Munger Research Center, which opened last November: "There's research going on here all the time... We're one of the largest centers for the study of the humanities, with 1,700 scholars working here every year. But the public never sees it." |
