Gay Book Ban Goal of State Lawmaker (12/02/2004) Rep. Gerald Allen, R-Cottondale, has introduced a bill that would prohibit the use of Alabama state funds for "the purchase of textbooks or library materials that recognize or promote homosexuality as an acceptable lifestyle." Works that would be banned include Heather has Two Mommies along with classics such as The Color Purple, The Picture of Dorian Gray, Brideshead Revisted, and the Tennessee Williams play, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof. |
