    Chip Set to Replace Mr. Chips (5/20/2004)

    Indiana has adopted computer grading for a mandatory writing test that students must take to graduate from high school. Although the software correctly evaluates grammar, punctuation, and spelling, teachers question its ability to grade content. Pilot tests in Oregon, Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and South Dakota have not yet convinced those states to adopt computer grading.
